  • Faire (re)connaitre la Remanufacture comme une des boucles techniques de l'Économie Circulaire permettant la valorisation pour l'allongement de la durée de vie des produits ;
  • D'identifier les entreprises leader dans le domaine ;
  • De sensibiliser les décideurs politiques ;
  • De participer à l'établissement des normes sur la Remanufacture ;
  • De guider et d'encourager les entreprises dans leur développement.

The European Remanufacturing Network (ERN) aims to encourage remanufacturing throughout Europe. Over a project period of two years, the ERN aims to:

  • encourage new businesses to take up remanufacturing
  • help existing remanufacturers improve their operations
  • improve competitiveness of remanufacturers domestically and internationally
  • create greater awareness of remanufacturing in the public and policy makers to increase demand and address barriers

ResCoM is an European Commission co-funded project working on the development of closed-loop product systems. The project will focus on some of the key ways to do this including remanufacturing, reuse and multiple lifecycles.

ResCoM uses a “system” approach, understanding that management decisions must be taken based on their systemic impact. These strands are all dynamically interrelated and should be considered as a whole.

1. Design: design methodologies for multiple lifecycles

2. Supply chains: integrated forward and reverse supply chains solutions that can handle the dynamics of multiple lifecycles

3. Business models: innovative business models that unlock added value through the application of closed-loop principles

4. Technology: collaborative product lifecycle management software platform designed to manage multiple lifecycles and supported by access to material databases, remanufacturing technologies and best practices.

CloseWEEE aims to close the loop by: developing and implementing robust and cost efficient recovery technologies, giving recycled materials a new life in added-value applications and providing efficient tools for the localisation and separation of hazardous and valuable materials.

The main goal of Close WEEE is therefore to increase the range and yields of recovered materials from WEEE streams.

" There are a massive amount of electronic devices going onto the market today. Nearly 60 million televisions were sold in Europe last year alone. Sooner or later these devices will return as electronics waste. In the past years, the recycling industry has developed to recover many metals such as ferrometals, copper, aluminum, precious metals, along with some selected plastics from these devices, but currently ignores many other important materials. The recently launched €5.9million project, CloseWEEE, will facilitate recovery and re-use of these materials and ensure the electronics manufacturing and recycling industry plays a key role in the drive towards a circular economy..."
